About the library

The Library at Satyam School of Journalism & Mass Communication (SSJMC) serves as the academic resource centre of the institution, supporting teaching, learning, and research through a comprehensive collection of print and digital resources. It provides students and faculty with access to books, journals, newspapers, institutional publications, student projects, and digital repositories, creating an environment that encourages independent learning and academic excellence.
The library is fully automated using the KOHA Library Management System and offers an Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), enabling users to search and locate resources efficiently. With modern infrastructure, internet connectivity, and a comfortable reading environment, the library complements classroom learning and promotes lifelong learning.



Membership & Services

Library membership is available to all students, faculty members, and staff through online registration. After completing the registration process, members can collect their library membership card from the library.

The library provides a range of services, including book issue, return and renewal, online catalogue access through KOHA OPAC, book reservation, internet browsing, Wi-Fi access, question paper support, online purchase suggestions, overdue reminders, account access, and regular updates on new arrivals and library activities.

  • Saturday (1st & 2nd): 09:00 AM To 01:00 PM
  • Saturday (3rd & 4th)/Sunday/Holiday: Close

Facilities & Resources

The library offers an air-conditioned reading area with Wi-Fi connectivity, internet access, and a fully automated catalogue system. Its collection includes books, journals, magazines, newspapers, students' internship documents, swatches, college newsletters, institutional publications, press releases, design projects, student portfolios, and a digital repository. In addition, newspaper clippings are maintained for academic reference, and the library remains under CCTV surveillance to ensure a secure learning environment.

Issue/Return of Books

  • Return of books after the due date will attract a fine of Rs.5/- per day per volume. The amount of fine would not exceed double the cost of the book (There will be no charge for Saturday, Sunday, and other holidays).
  • Books/Materials can be re-issued if there is no reservation (Hold) placed on them by other users.
  • The library sends overdue reminders to related borrowers.

Online Book Reservation (Hold) and Renewal

    The library provides online book reservation (Hold) service to all registered users using the following steps:
  • Log in to your account on the Library portal and go to the Library Catalogue
  • Type the author’s name or the title (or whatever information you have regarding that title)
  • Click on the Place Hold button on the right-hand side button
  • Library Catalogue shows two options
  • Place hold for the next available copy
  • Then again click on the Place Hold button
    Also, the Library provides an online book renewal service as well using the following steps:
  • Log in to your account on the Library portal
  • Click on My Summary
  • Click on Renew

Only registered users (Faculty, Staff, and Students) are allowed to borrow books from the Library. Users should always carry their ID cards while using the Library. To know the full details and availability status of Library resources, please prefer to access the Library online catalogue.

Rules and Regulations for the Library Users

  • Reference books are issued only under special circumstances with prior permission of Librarian.
  • Library users must ensure that their activities do not disturb the fellow users.
  • User should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb other readers in the library.
  • All library users must sign in/out register available at the gate.
  • Smoking/eating/use of mobile phone/drinking/sleeping is strictly prohibited in the library premises.
  • User of the library should not deface, mark, cut or damage the reading materials in any way.
  • The user should check the books thoroughly for missing pages, chapters etc. While getting them issued. No complaint will be entertained later on.
  • Personal belongings like bags, books, etc. are not allowed inside the library in any case.
  • Computer in the library premises should be used for academic purpose only. Online chatting / dating, browsing of social networking sites, playing game of the computers are strictly prohibited.
